Into the Group Stage
With 7-2 victory against Israeli side Maccabi Haifa we advanced to the group stage of Europa League campaign 20/21.
We had our goal fixed as we had given so much priority to this game rather than the game against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup. Jose played his best team and they delivered, from the first minute of the game we made our intention clear that we were in to see the things off.
90 seconds into the game Harry Kane opened the scoring and later scored his hattrick. Lo Celso bagged two goals and was followed by Lucas and Dele with one each. Visitors troubled with some efforts throughout the game but was not enough.
Once again the handball decision was harsh on both teams as both scored one each from that situation.
Harry Kane is the man whose action speaks louder than his words. He prefers to speak less and prove himself in the field, when the tie was announced one of the player from Maccabi Haifa mocked Kane by signaling his crotch area in one video. Spurs side didn’t gave any reaction regarding it but the Tottenham team gave perfect response with the ball on the field and Kane was leading from the front in destruction of their opponent. Now the player from Haifa will always remember Harry Kane when he thinks of repeating such a disgraceful act again, he has been Kaned.
Competetion is that factor which always brings out the best from any individual. The performance from Ben Davies against Haifa can be the hint of same, Ben Davies was regular starter for Jose and used to be quite when it comes to attacking play. But against Maccabi Davies was too good going forward and grabbed three assists, we can assume that the key factor behind his performance is the arrival of Sergio Reguilon who provides neck to neck competetion for that left back position and we can hope to see more similar performance in the coming days.
During his Real Betis days we had seen Lo Celso banging goals and screamers for his side but after his arrival in North London he has been quite when it comes to scoring goals. But against Maccabi he scored two goals and both of them were perfectly executed, his first was a neat strike form the box and his second was a beautiful dink over the keeper. In his Betis days he used to play in advanced attacking role but in Spurs he was deployed more in defensive duties and after the arrival of Hojbjerg now he is free to operate more in attacking areas, so those two goals may be just the starting of many.
Steven Bergwin had a game to remember after a long period of time, he started his life at Spurs brilliantly but had been quite for sometime. But against Maccabi he was completely a different player, running tirelessly from the wings, leaving his man clueless and laying off the final balls. He arrived from the different league which is completely different from the Premier League and that may be the factor for his average performance but it seems that slowly he is adapting and soon we will see him changing the games on his own. The only thing that stopped him from grabbing the man of the match award was that hattrick from Harry Kane.
The game also saw some glimpse of old Dele, he scored a penalty created by himself with a cheeky nutmeg. Hope this game will be that game which will bring that required confidence to him to turn around his situation.
As we have advanced to the group stage of the Europa League here are the opponents we will play against.
Arrival of a Striker
After 14 months of Fernando Llorente`s departure from the club we have finally signed a striker. The club has secured the services of young Brazilian Carlos Vinicius from the Portugese side Benifica on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Vinicius had really an amazing season last year. He scored 24 goals and laid 13 assists in his 45 total appearance for the club, and the stats are really impressive.
Reports around claim that Vinicius was the number one target for Jose this window and finally we have been able to provide Jose with his targetman. Finally the striker has arrived in North London and its time to get excited.
