VAR Ruins It All

“If I want to give some money away I give to charity, I don’t want to give to the FA so I prefer not to comment.”

Jose Mourinho

Another premier league matchday and another VAR controversy to ruin the beautiful game of football.

The final whistle of the game was approaching and it looked like we were taking all three points fom the game but suddenly the VAR was at its best and Newcastle equalised.

It was one of the best game in recent period as the team looked composed in each and every area of the field, dominating the game and creating chances after chances. The scoreline would have been different if it was not the brilliant performance from the Newcastle goalkeeper and ball hitting the woodwork. The young goalkeeper kept away every shots fired at goal,Karl Darlow made 11 saves in the game, which was the most made by a Newcastle goalkeeper in a Premier League match. Son striked the woodwork twice before being replaced in half time due to injury.

After the match speaking to football.london Mourinho said: My team did a fantastic match, I cannot ask more from the players. Their goalkeeper was phenomenal. I cannot ask more from my players. We kept them away from the special box and we couldn’t do more than what we did.

The team played very very well. It was a very complete match, offensively and defensively. No problem defensively, we created a lot of chances. Really, really good, I’m very happy with the performance.

It was one of the best game after the arrival of Jose, every single player on the pitch was giving his best performance, no one has done anything wrong to concede, gaffer was impressed with every single player but at last it was the VAR which ruined it all.

Its not the first time VAR has done anything wrong, match after match the VAR`s decisions are creating controversy and questions are arising regarding the existence of VAR, not only us there are many other teams whose day has been ruined by VAR.

This is not the first time VAR has given the controversial decisions in our game and have costed us, we have faced it several times. We have been robbed in the past as well and to express it Jose was not hesitant, he hinted afterwards that it is a sign that Tottenham are not given the respect others are.
“I don’t feel Tottenham is respected according to what the club is as a club. No respect. It’s just my feeling,” he said.

The decision was clearly so stupid that Newcastle boss Steve Bruce and player Carroll whose header hit Dier immediately criticized VAR after the game.
Steve Bruce:
“If you’re going to tell me that is handball then we all may as well pack it in. It’s a nonsense, a nonsense of a rule. It’s gone for us today – however, it’s ludicrous.

“We’ve got away with one. It fell for us today. Maybe we should query these new rules and who makes them. I thought VAR would come in for the clear and obvious. It’s ludicrous. I am not a big lover of it.

“We saw Roy Hodgson last night. It’s a nonsense. We saw a ridiculous one yesterday with Everton and their winning goal; we saw an equally ridiculous one today. I should be happy but I can’t say I agree with it.”

Carroll posted on social media: “Pencil jumps only is the new rule for any aerial challenges. I feel your pain!!”

Each and every person who are into this game as professionals or fans has the same opinion regarding VAR, everyone thought VAR was introduced to uplift the quality of thus game but reality is that it is ruining this beautiful game day by day.

Injury Problem
Son has been phenomenal for us and had started to deliver again as he was scoring and assisting. Against Newcastle also he was performing well running behind the ball and hitting the woodwork twice inside first 45 minutes of the game.

After the halftime players returned to the pitch, Steven Bergwin who was on the bench was also entering along with the team and it was clear that he was replacing Son for the next 45 minutes.

Everyone thought it must be a tactical change as Son had played two full game and had completed another 45 minutes within a week. After the game Jose was asked about the change and he told that it was not any tactical change but it was the immediate change that had to be done due to injury to Son. He told Son had picked up hamstring and it look line he will be out for long time.

Games are coming thick and fast and we can’t be sure that players will cope with the fixtures schedule, we can only hope that the thing that happened with Son will not happen with other players of our team, get well soon Sonny.

Mourinho on Carabao Cup

Mourinho is clearly frustrated with the crazy fixture schedules and he made it clear that his priority is Europa League rather than Carbao Cup, speaking to press today he said:
“What would you do in my position?” he said. “I would like to fight for the Carabao but I don’t think I can.

“We have a game on Thursday that gives us not as much money as the Champions League but the group phase of the Europa League gives us a certain amount that for a club like us is very important.

“It’s a competition with a possible group phase that gives us a good chance to go through to the next knockout stage so this game on Thursday is very important for us.”

So it seems that Mourinho will completely rotate his squad to give rest for his important players before the Europa League match as the club has prioritised Europa League over Carabao Cup.
